Purpose

Camps for Kids is a community-based program that provides scholarships for children, students, and adults with special needs so they can enjoy a week of Summer Camp at our Whispering Pines Conference & Retreat Center near Sonora.

Camps for Kids is endorsed and supported by local businesses, civic groups, neighborhood churches, foundations, and people like you.

Many campers come from economically challenged families and care facilities. They rely on State funding for their basic needs. Some have been neglected by family and friends. It’s tragic, but true. That’s why we care and reach out to them!

In July 2009, the State cut 100% of its camp funding for people with special needs, adversely impacting many guests who’ve been enjoying our Camps for years. As a result, some may have to stay home this summer, unless we can scholarship them.

So, we’re working hard to raise additional funds so we can provide more scholarships this year. Will you help us?
